Thanks to a major investment the extension is in keeping with the SGMC's strong commitment to growth now being favored by its strategic harbor position as an anchor point to enhance its marketing outreach on a national level and in CEMAC zone. On Wednesday February 17, 2010 the SGMC officially launched the extension and set the first stone for the new mill in the presence of the Minister of Commerce, the Governer of the Coastal Region, local government officials, the SOMDIAA Group's corporate officials, as well as several guests. The SGMC's mill facilities located by Douala Harbor, which also houses a wheat mill, silos, storage premises, offices and a bread-making laboratory, is planned to be significantly extended so as to provide a crushing capacity of 280 tons of wheat per day, i.e. an output capacity that will go from 70,000 to 150,000 tons of flour per year. The increase in capacity comes with market growth and the investment shows the high degree of trust that the Group has for Cameroon. The extension works, which was launched on February 17, 2010, will continue until the end of the year and the new mill should be operational in the middle of 2011. Thanks to the mill extension, the SGMC will support market growth in Cameroon and neighboring countries all the while keeping on providing quality products valued by its customers. |
