The presence of the SOMDIAA Group in African food processing industry has helped it diversify its core competencies according to assessed synergies. Leveraging on the expertise of its other functions, the Group developed a cotton department committed to providing specialized services dedicated to the African cotton business:

Marketing cotton on the global market

In a continuing effort to better value African production and support African cotton quality on the global market so as to best distribute their revenues, the Department directely purchases cotton fiber from African cotton producers and provides it to end consumers (spinning companies...).

Setting up a support and knowledge center
dedicated to the African cotton industry

The center will help meet the needs of cotton companies more accurateley in terms of technical support.
It will provide them with the most appropriate solutions for the best value by:

- pooling the experience acquired in the area of agricultural science, ginning, logistics, quality and the environment;

- creating an active network of experts.

The SOMDIAA aims at becoming a key stakeholder in the supply of services to African cotton businesses.

Acceding efficient means of communication

In order to meet that objectiv the SOMDIAA IT Department has developed an information system tailored to the cotton business specifications. Based on the means of communication used between the Group and its affiliates, the system provides cotton businesses with tools supporting product marketing, management and traceability as well as an innovative and efficient internal communication platform. It is also designed to create added value in the daily management of companies.

Supplying competitive input and equipment

The SOMDIAA Group offers cotton companies competitively priced input by combining orders with the orders of its African affiliates and through its negociation power. The Cotton Department can also help secure the funds flow of cotton companies.
